If you have been searching for a VPN (virtual private network) or you’ve heard about it, you may have noticed that there are a lot of VPN providers out there to choose from.

One name that is consistently mentioned is NordVPN, and as I have been a customer since 2016 I figured that it’s about time I put together a review of NordVPN and how it has helped to protect me online.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): What is it & Why Should I Use it?

23rd January 2019 - By Ahmed Khalifa Leave a Comment

2-Factor authentication header blog image

Before diving into the importance of two-factor authentication and why you must use it, it’s important to set the scene.

Over the years, we have witnessed a massive increase in the number of websites suffering the consequences of a hack. It seems to be more and more common that we see news about companies losing their users’ personal data as a result of cybercrime.

Sometimes it’s because of carelessness, like using the same password in multiple websites (seriously, don’t do that!). It could be because of their ancient security system not being able to keep up with the highly sophisticated attacks. It could be because you have left yourself logged-in on public computers.

But even if you think you have everything set-up, nobody is immune to attacks, and there is a good chance your site could be in the firing line at some point by the hackers.

Becoming GDPR Compliant: What I’m Doing About It

23rd January 2019 - By Ahmed Khalifa Leave a Comment

Blog header image on what I'm doing to become GDPR compliant

The big scary GDPR legislation has been on everyone’s lips in the build-up to the 25 May 2018 launch.

Even though it has been known for several years that this was going to happen, it was only when 2018 came round that it really made people aware.

There is a lot of hype about it and also scaremongering around it, which doesn’t help when you hear that you could be fined for up to €20m or 4% of your annual global turnover.

And because everyone has been pushing it aside until the last possible moment, panic has set in.

Password Manager: What Is It, How Safe Is It & Why Should I Use it?

23rd January 2019 - By Ahmed Khalifa 6 Comments

Header image for password manager blog post

If you have read any of my previous posts about online security, you will know that I am a big advocate of everything related to online security.

What surprises me is how we go out of our way to make sure that everything offline is secure (house, cars, etc.) and we take extra care with them.

But the same cannot be said for non-tangible, online “products” like our passwords. And this is despite having more and more personal information online, from bank details, to addresses, to medical information and even your place of work.
