30. HyperSuggest

HyperSuggest keyword research tool

Description

  • A relatively unknown tool that does a very good job of providing long-tail keywords in various formats and provides different ways to define your search further. It is created by a German-based SEO expert, so there may be small elements of German influence and words within the tool

Advantages

  • An option to filter and focus your search in different formats:
    • The “normal” format called “Suggest Suggest” >> keywords + [more keywords]
    • Find out what people type and search before the actual keyword via “Reverse Suggest” >> [more words] + keywords
    • A combination of the both aka “Both Suggest”
    • Create question-based keywords (and automatically adds the interrogative words in different languages) called W-Questions)
  • Easy to create your own list and export
  • Multilingual search option is available
  • Demographic option is available
  • You can focus on any combination of the following: Google, YouTube, Google Shopping
  • The pro version is free, which means it used to cost money

Disadvantages

  • You still need to use a 3rd party tool to find out the respective keywords search volume, competition and CPC
  • At the time of writing, connection is only partly secure as parts of the page are not secure i.e. image
  • Annoying advert pops up asking you to submit a domain and receive a free account with an SEO software company
  • It doesn’t look as if it has been updated or maintained for a while

My Favourite Keyword Research Tools

Nobody in their right mind uses all of the tools above, but we all have our favourites.

On this site and for my clients, I use the following tools frequently for my keyword research:

  • Google Trends
  • KWFinder
  • Keywords Everywhere
  • Answer the Public
  • Google Auto Suggest
  • Google Related Search
  • SEMrush (paid)

But this has also reminded me that it is useful to check out other tools that give you unique data, and further insights into how your audience is searching. Provided that it’s useful, there is nothing wrong with expanding your horizons and using other tools.

Even though many of the negatives listed are linked to having to pay for a pro account, it is still worth mentioning the following:

  1. The free version is still incredibly useful and powerful
  2. On most occasions, they have a business to run and costs to cover. It’s only fair that we help with that, especially if you are gaining useful data for your site that can have an impact to our own revenue

Provided that the tools give you the right data, there is no such thing as the perfect keyword tool.

But you can find the right one that suits you…and for free.
